This is the best-selling thermal in EMPTY GARAGE’s history. Even after years, it is a piece we still want to bring back. For 2026, we commissioned an additional production run of this thermal, which was not part of the regular autumn/winter collection.

We consider merino wool one of the great fibres in human history. It is the natural fibre we have trusted and worn for years at EMPTY GARAGE—one we recommend with real conviction. メリノウールの魅力は、ただ暖かいことだけではありません。繊維が空気を含んで暖かさを保ちながら、肌から出る湿気を吸収し、衣服内の蒸れを和らげます。寒いときは暖かく、汗ばむときにも快適さを支えてくれる。気温や活動量の変化に寄り添う、この働きが日常でも頼もしいのです。
Merino wool does more than keep you warm. It traps insulating air while absorbing moisture vapour from the skin, helping to reduce clamminess. This balance of warmth and moisture management supports comfort as temperatures and activity levels change.

Merino wool also absorbs odour molecules within the fibre, helping garments stay fresher. Its ability to absorb moisture reduces static build-up, and wool is naturally flame resistant and absorbs ultraviolet radiation. These are properties of the fibre; the protection offered by a garment depends on its construction.

Its performance has even been studied in space. NASA clothing research included merino wool garments worn and evaluated by astronauts and cosmonauts aboard the International Space Station. Drawing on the heritage of a workwear brand that once existed in Indiana, USA, Atsusuke Tagaya and Zip Stevenson launched STEVENSON OVERALL CO. in a new form in 2005.
